Things Are a Changing

Where should I start that is the famous question of the day.

You all know that I am of the sandwich generation where I am caring for kids at home and also taking care of my parents as well. So with that being said I will start at a few weeks ago.

Getting ready for a special trip with my youngest and I received a phone call from the nursing home. My mom needs to go to the hospital due to her not doing well right now. So I approve it and come to find out after phone calls from the doctor and then the nursing home saying she was back at the home. She had a UTI. It is amazing how they can cause a problem in so many different ways. So off to our special trip and no calls. Had a plan in place if anything happened. Came back received phone call last Friday before leaving work and they want to put my mom on seizure medicine since now she is having mini seizures. Ok then. Went to see my mom over the weekend and well like my title says things are a changing. My mom went from walking with a walker to a wheelchair, talking to not really talking until we could get her awake enough to make contact. She did eat a donut and have a hot chocolate that we brought her.

I have been preparing for this for years now, but when it actually happens you really can’t be truly ready for it. It is still a process you need to go through. Which is ok. We are not giving up on my mom yet. She is still in there and the nursing home that she is in is amazing and is working on physical therapy with her. I knew this day was coming and with God’s help I and my mom will just keep moving forward.

For those who are at this stage my heart and prayers go out to you. Just know you are not alone.

Blessings.

Even sunflowers can give hugs.
